Managing inventory space is one of the most critical aspects of exploring the vast world of Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning. Players quickly discover that loot accumulates rapidly from slain enemies, chest openings, and quest rewards. Increasing your carrying capacity by acquiring backpacks is the best way to ensure you never have to leave valuable gear behind during your journey.
Early Game Backpack Merchants in Dalentarth
Your journey to expanding inventory begins shortly after completing the tutorial area in Gorhart. In the town of Gorhart, head directly to the Corner Shop where the merchant Rymmer offers your very first backpack upgrade. Purchasing this item immediately increases your inventory capacity by ten slots, giving you much-needed room for early quest loot.
As you progress deeper into the Dalentarth region, another key vendor awaits in the bustling city of Ysa. Located in the Ashen Wastes section, the merchant Nels Engar sells the second available backpack upgrade. Acquiring this item early on helps ease the burden of collecting various crafting reagents and armors.
Mid Game Backpack Upgrades in Plains of Erathell
Once your quest leads you into the open expanse of the Plains of Erathell, additional merchants become available. Visit the City of Rathir and locate the Scholia Arcana upper district to find a magic merchant named Wilf Rorick. Buying his backpack extension gives your hero the necessary room to hoard rare components and high-tier weapons.
Another crucial vendor is found in Mel Senshir along the coastal front of Klurikon. The local merchant Ilanya carries a backpack upgrade that becomes accessible as soon as you arrive in the fortress. Secure this item before embarking on grueling wilderness missions throughout the eastern region.
Late Game Upgrades and DLC Backpacks
For players exploring the main story further into Detyre, the mining camp of Adessa holds another essential vendor. Seek out the merchant inside the Laboratory area to claim your next expansion slot. Combining these main-game backpacks significantly expands your base storage limits.
If you possess the game expansions, additional backpacks can be acquired in the Teeth of Naros and Dead Kel DLC zones. Visiting the main hub vendors in Idylla and Gravehal Keep allows you to maximize your overall slot count. Utilizing these additional upgrades ensures you can carry all necessary combat gear without constantly returning to town merchants.
