Finding the brave tiefling leader Zevlor in Baldur's Gate 3 can be confusing for players exploring Moonrise Towers during Act 2. Many adventurers search the prison cells under the tower expecting to find him alongside other captives, but his true location is hidden much deeper. Understanding where Zevlor is held and how to reach him ensures you do not miss his crucial questline and valuable assistance.
The Search for Zevlor in Act 2
When you first enter Moonrise Towers, you will notice that Zevlor is absent from the prison levels where other tieflings are kept. Despite rumors that he was taken by Absolute forces, he cannot be rescued during your early exploration of the stronghold. His location remains inaccessible until you reach the climax of the Act 2 main story.
Attempting to locate Zevlor beforehand will yield no results, as he is trapped in a hidden area beneath the main structure. Players must focus on progressing through the main narrative steps across the Shadow-Cursed Lands before they can finally track him down.
Navigating to the Mind Flayer Colony
To locate Zevlor, you must first confront Ketheric Thorm at the top of Moonrise Towers. After the initial boss fight, Ketheric retreats into a massive opening that leads directly to the Mind Flayer Colony below. Jumping down this fleshy shaft takes your party into the mini-dungeon where Zevlor is actually imprisoned.
Once inside the colony, navigate toward the Tadpoling Center room. This chamber is filled with several pods containing victims waiting to be transformed into mind flayers. Among these pods, you will spot Zevlor trapped inside.
How to Rescue Zevlor and Win the Battle
Near the pods in the Tadpoling Center, you will find a Neural Apparatus console. Interacting with this control panel gives you the option to either purge or release the occupants inside. Selecting the release option will open the pods and free Zevlor from his imprisonment.
Releasing the captives will immediately trigger a challenging battle against several hostile Mind Flayers and Intellect Devourers. Fortunately, Zevlor and the other freed allies will join your party in combat to help defeat the illithids. After the battle, speak with Zevlor to secure his alliance for the final battles in Act 3.
